Diigo 12/11/13

Another way to organize your computer is to make multiple folders and put things into them. By using websites like diigo, and by using things like RSS feeds, you are able to organize your computer in a quick and easy way. By doing this, you will make things easier for yourself and it will help you in the long run. You can organize email by separating your emails into different categories, such as social, work related, or personal. By using things like this we are able to help ourselves and make our own life so much easier.

Do now 12-3

I think using twitter for educational purposes is a good thing. You are able to hashtag which is a great way to be connected with others. It can be used on a regular basis because you can send out a new tweet every day based on whatever the topic for the day is. Twitter is a great way to stay connected as well as being very simple to use.

Do Now 11/18

"You must be the change you wish to see in the world." ~Mahatma Gandhi
For some people, they couldn't care less about other people in this world. For me, what ignites my desire to help make this world a better place is the that I hate to see people struggle. I will always help somebody in need, I'll give what I have. I wish that everyone in our world can be happy, but that is obviously not possible. For my life goals, I would not only like to accomplish something that pleases and satisfies me, but that can also contribute to others. I would love to see me living a good happy life, and if so I will also do all I can to help the community and others around me

11/11 Do Now

Hearing about what happened in the Philippines is truly devastating. It is so sad to think what these people are going through. Having went through Hurricane Sandy was rough, but I can only imagine what these people are going through, cause in comparison.. Sandy was nothing. I really feel bad and hope the people are able to eventually recover.

Wikis

There are many benefits into using wikis in the classroom. You can work in groups and update one page and everyone can see it. In this class, we could use it as a big collaborative project in which everyone in the room adds a little bit of information to one wiki. Wikis could be very useful if used effectively, and they should be utilized more. I have no experience with wikis, but wouldn't mind making one.

Do Now : Invisibility

If I could use an invisibility cloak for one day and preform a good deed, it would be to go and help people in need. I would go around the schools and the streets of neighboring towns and see if anything bad was happening. If it was, I would step in and do something to help solve what the problem was. I would try to help kids getting bullied as well.
The other thing I would do is to go to my grandparents house and help them with anything they need. If I see there is a problem in the house I would go and fix it. If something was falling in there house I would make sure it doesn't just to save them the trouble.

10.7 Do Now

I think if I could add one class to our curriculum that we do not have it would be wood-shop. Within wood-shop there are many things to learn. It would help people with hands on learning and improve many skills for them. They would be able in incorporate other subjects into it, like geometry and even science with the types of wood you use. It would help students in many ways, and it would just be a really fun class for many people.
This class would just like any other, you would be taking it within your regular schedule as an elective. You would learn about the different types of wood, and learn how to make different things out of wood. It would give students a chance to learn hands on and be able to display what they create to other people. The things they make could be used around the school or they could keep it. You can also incorporate it with an art class and be able to paint in during that class if you wanted to.

Forensics

One of the classes I am taking this year that I look forward too is forensics. The teacher is Mrs. Sistarneik, but she is out due to the fact that she is having a baby. The current teacher for the mean time is Mrs. Pielech. She will be here until the time Mrs. Sistarneik comes back. I expect to learn many new things throughout the year and am really interested in this subject. I want to learn how to fingerprint, the different aspects of investigating a crime scene, and how to look at different components of a crime scene under a microscope.
The grading policy in the class is the same as the rest of the school. In the class there is not really a certain project I am interested in. I am interested in the overall class and conducting our own crime scenes. We did a project like this in 8th grade, and I really enjoyed it. Sadly there is no class trip, but it would be awesome to go to like a lab.
In the class, we were probably be using technology a lot. We use the projector almost every day. We also use the compound light microscope if you consider that technology. I really look forward to learning in this class, and may even pursue a career in this if I do enjoy it.

September 11

September 11th was a very tragic day for everyone in our country. Many people lost their lives and it affected us as a nation. I remember this day even though I was only five years old. I remember my mom coming to get me from school being scared, and her rushing to get me home. I remember getting home and my grandparents were at my house and everyone was surrounding the tv. This day had an effect on everyone, either directly or indirectly. For me, it really did not have a direct impact, but I could only imagine how others felt. Even though I did not lose anyone I knew, I felt the pain for everyone who did. This was a very tragic day, which helped shape our countries many new rules and regulations that we follow today. We will forever remember what happened on September 11 2001, and all those who were lost will forever be in our hearts.
